Cross Country: Crystal Springs Recap
Summary of this past Saturday’s 2.95 miles Crystal Springs Cross Country Invitational in Belmont CA.
In the Varsity Boys race our Leland team finished in 13th place out of 22 teams with a score of 375 points.
Sr. Nathan Lee was Leland’s top varsity boys finisher as he finished in 16th place with a time of 16:59. For his efforts, Nathan won an individual medal as the top 20 finishers in his race received medals for their performances. Sr. Varun Rao was the second runner for our team as he finished in 81st place with a time of 18:45. Our 3rd runner for Leland was Sr. Alex Kim and he finished with a time of 19:08 to finish in 84th place. In 4th place for our team was Jr. Zachary Fuselier as he finished in 93rd place with a time of 19:08. Our next runner and 5th scoring member for our team was Jr. Aviv Yerselove. He finished in 152nd place with a time of 21:28. He was followed by Sr. Dominic Wang who finished in 167th place with a time of 22:04 and our 7th runner in the race was Jr. Jacob Hsueh and he finished in 167th place with a time of 23:32.
In the Sophomore Boys team competition, our Leland boys team finished in 3rd place and were just one place away from winning a top 2 team finisher plaque with their 3rd team place out of 8 teams with a score of 80 points. For the 3rd invitation in a row soph, Aditya Garg ran the fastest time of the day out of all Leland runners at this invitational. He accomplished that by running away with the race to win the 1st place medal by 33 seconds with a winning time of 16:49.
Finishing second for Leland in this Sophomore boys race with a time of 18:17 was Gabriel Rueda as he finished in 15th place and he also won an individual medal by finishing in the Top 20 in his race. Gabriel was followed by Patrick Guzman who also won a top 20 finishers medal with his 18th place with a time of 18:26. Our next Leland runner was Owen Widgery who finished in just 4 places behind Patrick with a time of 18::29 to finish in 22nd place. Owen was still able to win a top 20 individual finishers medal as runners who were on the 1st and 2nd place teams were not eligible to win a Top 20 individual finisher medal as they instead received medals for the top 7 and a team plaque for finishing in the top 2 in the team competition. Tyler Orth was Leland’s 8th sophomore finisher in the race with his 35th place and a time of 19:01. Finishing in 48th place and 9th for our team was Dean Gonzalez with a time of 19:46. Jeonghan Moon was our 10th runner with a time of 21:16 as he finished in 80th place. Sebastian Zambada was our 11th runner to finish with a time of 21:54 and crossed the finish line in 87th place. Munqu Chung was next to finish in 91st place with a time of 22:10. He was followed by Nathan Tewari who finished in 93rd place with a time of 22:16. Gideon Tan was next to cross the line with a time of 22:17 as he finished in 95th place. Next to cross the line and finishing in 98th place with a time of 22:31 was Kyle Au and in 105th place was Taylor Orth as he crossed the line in time of 23:11.
In the boys Freshman race our Leand boys team finished in 7th place with team score of 214 points out of 14 teams.
Our top finisher in the Freshmen boys race was Brandon Nagatani as he won a Top 20 finishers medal top medal by finishing in 11th place with a time of 18:11. He was followed by Jasper Gruhl who placed 14th place as he also won a top 20 finishers medal with a time of 18:31. Next to come in for Leland was Aaron Jao by finishing in 67th place with a time of 20:29. Crossing the finish line in 72nd place with a time of 20:37 was Ishayu Manral. Freshman Mohamed Foryo finished in 122nd place with a time of 22:16. Finishing In 125th place and 5th for our team with a time of 22:42 was Daniel Tang. Daniel. He was followed by Kai Cho who ran a time of 24:38 to finish in 142nd place. Rocco DePalma finished in 155th place with a time of 25:27.
In the JV boys race Leland had 2 runner one was Tianyi Gao he finished in 155th place with a time of 25:13 and finishing in 161st place was in this race was Jonathan Stichnoth and his time was 26:30.
In the Frosh Soph girls race Sophomore, Nao Sawaguchi led the race from start to finish as she was able to run away with the race from the start with a time of 20:47. Nao won her first place medal by 61 seconds over the second place finisher in the race. Finishing second for our team was Sophomore Sayuri Lokeshwar and she was able to also win a Top 20 finishers medal as she was able to finish in 14th place with a time of 24:05. Sophomore Allison Guo was the only other runner in the race for Leland, and she finished in 61st place with a time of 28:57.
In the varsity girls race, Leland only had one runner she was Jr. Saachi Vasavaraju and she finished in 117th place with a time of 25:35.
In the JV Girls race Leland also only had one runner she was Jr. Ariadev Hada and she finished in 129th place with a time of 30:19.
